TurboMAX Turbo Blowers

An efficient air source for biological wastewater treatment processes

TurboMAX blowers are high-efficiency centrifugal blowers with air bearings, designed for use in biological wastewater treatment installations.

The applied technology ensures very high energy efficiency across a wide operating range, which directly translates into low electricity consumption.

The low operating costs of TurboMAX blowers result not only from their high efficiency, but also from their oil-free, maintenance-free design. The absence of oil systems, belts, gearboxes and other traditional wear components significantly reduces the scope of maintenance and repair work, which results in substantially lower operating costs over the entire life cycle of the equipment.

ASPAMET is an authorised supplier and service provider of TurboMAX blowers in Poland

TurboMAX blowers in the biological process

Biological wastewater treatment processes are among the most energy-intensive stages of wastewater treatment plant operation. The cost of generating and supplying air to biological reactors represents a significant part of the facility’s total operating costs, which is why the blower technology used has a direct impact on the economics of wastewater treatment plant operation. The high energy efficiency of TurboMAX blowers makes it possible to significantly reduce electricity consumption compared with more energy-intensive and less efficient aeration solutions.

In classic flow-through systems, aeration is carried out continuously or variably, depending on the current hydraulic load and the pollutant load entering the reactor.

TurboMAX blowers have been designed to operate under such conditions, offering a wide capacity control range and the ability to smoothly adjust operating parameters to the current needs of the biological process. At the same time, TurboMAX blowers operate in line with the adopted wastewater treatment technology.

They can be successfully used both in continuous aeration installations and in systems with intermittent or cyclic aeration, where the operating mode of the equipment results directly from the technological algorithms and control system of the facility.

    TurboMAX Technology

TurboMAX blowers belong to the group of high-efficiency centrifugal blowers equipped with a contactless air bearing system. This design eliminates the need for oil, gearboxes and conventional mechanical bearings, significantly simplifying equipment operation.

The use of a high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor, PMSM, and a frequency inverter enables precise control of the blower rotational speed and capacity across a wide operating range.

    Key technological features:

maintenance-free air bearings made using the latest NSTB+ technology – contactless operation without oil systems
direct impeller drive – no gearboxes or couplings
high-speed PMSM motor with high efficiency
    integrated plug & play design
    low noise and vibration levels
smooth capacity control using a frequency inverter
built-in actual air flow measurement / Venturi tube
minimal maintenance – periodic replacement of inlet air filters

    TurboMAX blower range

TurboMAX blowers are offered in a broad product range covering several size groups, which enables their use both in small and medium-sized wastewater treatment plants and in large municipal facilities and industrial installations.

Thanks to smooth capacity control, each blower can operate across a wide range of duty points, adapting to the current conditions of the biological process.

The selection of a specific blower model is carried out individually each time, based on the technological parameters of the facility, such as the required air flow, operating pressure and installation operating characteristics.

    Configuration flexibility

Within the TurboMAX range, it is possible to select:

the blower size and power suitable for the facility’s demand,
    the capacity control range,
the control configuration / local blower control or supervisory station control,
the installation method / traditional or containerised station.

This approach enables optimal adaptation of blowers both to new investments and to modernisation of existing blower stations.

    Key technological features:

Maintenance-free air bearings made using the latest NSTB+ technology – contactless operation without oil systems.
Direct impeller drive – no gearboxes or couplings.
High-speed PMSM motor with high efficiency.
    Integrated plug & play design.
    Low noise and vibration levels.
Smooth capacity control using a frequency inverter.
Built-in actual air flow measurement (Venturi tube).
Minimal maintenance – periodic replacement of inlet air filters.

Operational benefits for wastewater treatment plants

Compared with traditional positive displacement blowers, TurboMAX blowers offer significant operational benefits from the perspective of the total cost of ownership of the installation.

These benefits result primarily from lower electricity consumption and simplified servicing, as only the inlet air filter requires regular replacement, which directly reduces ongoing maintenance costs.

This is also confirmed by operating data from the Urbanowice wastewater treatment plant, where, at the same capacity of 55 m³/h, the TurboMAX 75 blower achieved lower average power consumption than a Roots blower, resulting in annual savings of PLN 53,589.48 + VAT and PLN 560,010.09 over a 10-year perspective.

Key operational benefits of TurboMAX blowers:

reduced electricity consumption in the aeration process
no costs related to oil servicing and replacement
    very low service requirements
stable operation under variable air demand
    high reliability in long-term operation
possibility of operation in various technological configurations – from classic flow-through reactors to intermittent-operation installations

    Applications

TurboMAX blowers are used wherever efficient aeration, stable process operation and low operating costs are of key importance.

    Wastewater treatment plants

municipal wastewater treatment plants with flow-through reactors
    industrial on-site wastewater treatment plants
continuous and variable-pressure biological aeration systems
installations with supervisory blower capacity control
intermittent technologies — as supplementary solutions

    Food and processing industry

Sugar plants, dairies and food processing plants – TurboMAX blowers operate in on-site wastewater treatment plants, ensuring stable conditions for the biological process.

Thanks to their wide capacity control range, they also perform well in installations with variable wastewater inflow and varied organic load, which are characteristic of many production processes in the food and processing industry.

    Paper industry

Due to the high oxygen demand in biological wastewater treatment in the paper industry, TurboMAX blowers perform well wherever stable and energy-efficient process aeration is essential.

    Power generation

Flue gas treatment installations as well as environmental and auxiliary processes. In power generation applications, the blowers can operate, among others, in wet flue gas desulphurisation, FGD, systems, where air is used in the oxidation process and continuous, reliable operation is expected from the equipment.
